Session replay for WooCommerce, tied to the order.
Candler records visits to your WooCommerce store and ties each one to the cart, the checkout and the paid order. A free plugin from the WordPress.org directory sends orders from your server, so ad blockers and closed tabs don't lose sales.
In short.
- What gets recorded
- Every page, including cart and checkout, with every form field masked in the browser.
- How orders count
- Your server reports each order once payment is confirmed. Candler matches it to the visit and counts it once.
- What it works with
- The classic and block cart and checkout, High-Performance Order Storage, page caching and CDNs.
- What it costs
- Free for 1,000 recorded sessions a month. Paid plans from $24 a month.
Every recording knows what was in the cart.
A replay on its own shows you a visit. Candler shows you which visits mattered. Each recording carries what the shopper added, whether they started checkout and whether they paid, so you can go straight to the ones that stalled at shipping.
- Session replay of real visits, with clicks, cart changes and rage clicks marked on the timeline.
- Checkout funnels from product page to paid order. Each step links to recordings of the people who stopped there.
- Click and scroll heatmaps for any page, split by phone and desktop.
- Rage clicks and dead clicks flagged by page, with the element people hit.
- Revenue, orders and add to cart rates by product and traffic source. Every visit keeps its campaign and ad click ID.
- Live view of who's on the store and what's in their cart. Watch Live opens a visit as it happens.
- Visitor profiles with every visit and order. Your staff can add a name, notes and a follow-up date.
Orders come from your server, not the browser.
Most tracking scripts learn about a sale from the thank-you page. If the shopper's browser blocks the script, or they close the tab after paying, the sale is gone. The Candler plugin reports carts and orders from WordPress itself.
- Add to cart, remove from cart and purchase are sent from your server, signed with your server key. Revenue can't be faked from a browser.
- A purchase is sent once, after payment is confirmed (processing or completed), in the background with automatic retries.
- Candler also matches orders by order ID, so refreshing the confirmation page never counts an order twice.
- The only thing stored on the order is the anonymous visitor and session ID, so a payment confirmed later still lands on the right visit.
- Names, emails, addresses, phone numbers, payment details and order notes are never sent.
Checkout is recorded, with every field masked.
WooCommerce checkout runs on your own site, so Candler records it like any other page. That's where most stores lose the most money, and it's the page you most want to watch.
Every form field is masked in the browser before anything is sent, so typed names, addresses and passwords never leave the page. Card fields from Stripe and other payment providers sit in their own secure frames, and Candler doesn't record inside them at all.
Setup takes five steps.
- Install Candler Analytics from Plugins, Add New, and activate it.
- Sign up and add your store as a website.
- In WordPress, open Settings, Candler. Paste the tracking ID and server key from Candler, save, and click Test connection.
- Clear your page cache: the caching plugin first, then any host or CDN cache.
- If a performance plugin delays or combines scripts, exclude
tracker.js.
Candler's Settings, Installation page shows the same steps with your own codes filled in. Watch the install, about a minute.
It won't slow the store down.
The tracker is about 12 KB compressed and loads without blocking the page. The recorder waits until the page has loaded. Cart and order events go out from your server in the background, so shoppers never wait on them.
The script is the same on every page, so cached pages work as they are. WooCommerce doesn't cache cart and checkout pages anyway.
Privacy settings are on before you change anything.
- Form fields are masked in the browser.
- Visitors whose browser sends Global Privacy Control aren't tracked.
- Your privacy policy gets an opt-out link that works from any page.
- Tracking can wait for cookie consent. Banners that support the WP Consent API work without extra code.
- Logged-in shop managers and admins aren't tracked, so your own testing stays out of the numbers.
The data processing addendum covers GDPR and US state privacy laws. Data is kept on servers in Nuremberg, Germany.
Questions WooCommerce owners ask.
- Does it work on WordPress.com?
- Yes, on WordPress.com plans that allow plugins. Candler was built on Amison Jewelry, a WooCommerce store hosted there.
- Can I run it next to Google Analytics, Clarity, Hotjar or Lucky Orange?
- Yes. Candler uses its own cookies, script name and order fields, so it doesn't conflict with any of them.
- Do I need WooCommerce?
- No. On a WordPress site without WooCommerce, the plugin adds the tracking script only. You get recordings, heatmaps and funnels, without cart and order data.
- Are refunds taken out of revenue?
- Not yet. Revenue counts paid orders. Refunds and cancellations aren't subtracted.
- What happens if I delete the plugin?
- Its settings are removed and any order sends still waiting are cancelled. Your data in Candler stays until you delete it there.
